Nashville Prairie Home

I'd been driving by it for years (since I'd move to Nashville in 1982), and always wondered...is it a new house or an old house? The reason being, I wasn't familiar with the style. At the time...to me, it looked kind of contemporary, or something. I just didn't know.

It wasn't until the last few years I would come to know it was a nice example of a Prairie Home. The Prairie Home was made most famous by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Though he was not the only architect that built homes in the style, most people associate the distictive look (horizontal lines, broad overhanging eaves, discipline in the use of ornament) with him.

When you pull over and take a closer look at this place, it's clear it's quite old, and unfortunately in terrible disrepair. Not sure why. I don't know who the architect is. I've just always thought it was very cool and often wished someone would purchase and restore. No doubt, it would be expensive (even in it's current state) due to the location (Belmont Blvd. near Belmont College).
